1982 OEM Radio Resto
« on: December 30, 2010, 01:52:10 pm »
I have the origional AM/FM in my truck still...I like it, but it barely holds reception.  I can tune in a few stations when still, but the slightest bump makes it loose the station....I'm not electro-geek, but I'm pretty mechanically capable.  Question is, can someone like me take this thing apart, clean it up and get it working?  or is it a lost cause and needs replacement?  Any articles or posts you can point me to on a radio resto would be great too...Thanks guys...

I got a better solution... Get on eBay Motor, search Delco.  There is a guy who cleans up originals and installs a plug in for an IPOD or MP3 player.  Contact him, he can sell you one or redo yours.  I bought one from him and he does nice work.

is a link to one of his auctions.  After I bought mine I asked him if he restores them for folks and he does.  I really want a AM-8track stereo, just to be different and want him to restore it.

That's an awesome resource, but i'd still like to get info in restoring the inner workings of mine, as the appearance is great, agewise.

Never done an electronic resto, so i'd like to try, if it's possible.

Hey guys, thanks. This is really great. I have an old radio in my 77 and would love to have one of them modify it to work with my MP3. I did not know anyone did this.

so I'm guessing noone has any pics, diagrams, or experience with internals on this style radio?
