Emergency Brake Handle

My black handle for the Emergency Breake Release broke off and I am not sure how to take the whole arm off....I went to a junk yard and found several good ones, but I could not figure out how to get the whole metal arm off...

anyone tackled this?

It is "locked" in place by a plastic clip.  take some needle nose plier, small screw driver etc and some patience.  They are a pain to get out without bending the rod.
