help removing ac pump and hoses
« on: February 25, 2011, 04:29:28 pm »
so as it is, my ac pump does not work and neither does my heater. i ordered headers and really want to clean up the engine compartment... so for the time being i want to remove the pump and hoses and anything else A/C related.

do i cap off the hoses that go to the heater core and just take the pump off? i'd like to also remove the canister next to the heater core. im also confused by the hoses that go to the front of the engine compartment...

it'll just go into storage until i decide to fix it...which i doubt i will.

Be very careful. If there is still refrigerant in the AC lines it should be professionally reclaimed with a machine. You don't want to take off a line and have a cloud of that stuff in your face, trust me. Also leave your heater hoses intact. They aren't at all related to removing the AC system. Post pics so we can see what your plan is.

Those hoses go to the AC condensor, which is mounted in front of the radiator behind the grill.

so can i just take those off? can i also remove the condensor? i dont think theres any refrigerant in the lines, previous owner claimed that.

I would take it to a technician anyways because it is also illegal to let it in the atmosphere. He probably wont charge you much, or not at all if there isnt anything in it.

check out acdelete.com i have one and love it.
