fuel filter problems

Wow...seems like everyone has something stuck, stripped or broken lately. I bought a new fuel filter the other day.  (305/2bbl) Went to change it and the nut on the end of the fuel line won't break loose where it screws into the larger on on the carb. Looks like someone else tried it before me and rounded the corners off of it.  :(  I tried using vice grips and it's so tight and rounded that they won't work. Thought about just cutting the line (whoever worked on it before put a kink in it) and putting it back together with rubber hose from the fuel pump to the carb. Before I do, thought I'd ask you guys for suggestions. Thanks!

Chances are it is cross threaded. You can cut the line then use a 6 pt socket to get it out and correct the problem.

The less rubber hose the better in a fuel system. That line isn't to hard to make. You need a double flare tool, and a tubing bender. Remove the alt. and just run a new one. You can use the old one for a pattern to bend the new one to.
