Brakes question
« on: March 27, 2011, 10:08:18 am »
I've redone everything on my brakes.  calipers, MC, WC's, booster, pads and shoes, hardware kits for at the wheels, everything but the rubber lines are new but the rubber lines are only 2 years or so old.

The truck stops better than it ever has, and the pedal isn't spongy at all, but it seems to be too easy to use.  It may be just me getting used to it, but i bet i could stop the truck kinda quick with two fingers if i could get em down there to try it.  It's easier than the focus brakes.  It's like the old chrysler toe-touch brakes.  So other than it seeming too easy to use everythings fine.

That truck will stop RIGHT NOW (wow ;D) and it doesn't grab or lockup and it stops straight when I let go of the wheel and the rears are adjusted correctly.  It bled well.  I have a pressure bleeder and ran it though both ways flushing it, and then bled it so the fluids all new too.

Pedal height-wise and feel, it's the same with no power assist as it was before, the pedal travel is about 1" and then REALLY hard, with no spongy feel.   Now with the truck running the pedal goes down about 1.5"
and then startes to work.  after getting down the 1.5" there's about another 1" of travel to full brake pressure.  once I hit the end its REALLY hard, not spongy.  And it stops evenly compared to how much you press the pedal.
Just wondering if it's me or something.  I'm fine with it like this, I just wanna know before I get too used to it.

Sounds like you have them spot on.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
