Cold Climate

Here's what I used to do:

-Nothing 'heavier' than 10W-30 motor oil; otherwise, no lighter gear oil (If I lived in Fairbanks I would use 5W-30 and 75-90 gear oil and probably all synthetic)
-50% antifreeze mix; sometimes 60%
-Block heater, oil pan heater, and battery blanket; all on a timer
-When real cold-cardboard in front of radiator to keep cold air from flowing into the engine compartment and 'air cooling' the engine
-Use of the factory hood insulation (I think every little bit helps)

I gotta disgree with people in warm parts of the country me I'm Chicago guy southside no place I rather be best city hands down I take my winters it's spring now so it's bout to be even better the city of wind chi town windy city the city by the lake got y'all beat lol.. To the question you like your vehicle man park it in winters if you can drive a beater in the winter salt eat up a truck so I say park it..

It's funny you posted on this and are from Anchorage.  I just got offered a job in Anchorage and I'm contemplating the move.  How do you like it up there??

I was polite you told me use proper puncuation, when what you could have done was simply give me a message in my inbox and say, your grammar off a bit no offense something like that. Instead you tryed to make me look stupid in a forum?? I never cursed or said, anything out of line man anyways I park it for the winter. These trucks become harder to find due to bad weather climates, and salt on the roads. These trucks rust on there own bad enough I think. I was a kid, in 85 my dad restored a 78 it was 7 years old and rusty, but he did the body work and paint looked great held up good but he kept it garaged.

So, yesterday was a beatiful day. Low to mid 80's all day. My parents, 2 friends, me, my girlfriend, and 4 family friends went out offroading to sycamore creek and barbequed. Great day. 4 jeeps and 1 2wd chevy I kept up with the big boys too! I burried my truck to the rear bumper playing around in the water. I went to slow and just plain burried 'er. Luckily, zero damage this time. Im thinking about throwing sone pictures up soon.
