Burning oil going to hurt other things too?

I had a new 91 Ford Aerostar for a company car and consumed 1 qt every 1500 miles like clock work.  I was at the Ford dealership and over heard a lady that went through a quart a 1000 miles on her brand new Escort.  The service guy took out a book and said that was within specs, go figure.  My 93 Ciera, 95 Lumina, 99 Grand Prix, 2000 Taurus, 01 Taurus, 02Taurus, 03Taurus, 05Sable, 08Escape, 09Escape all Company cars never lost oil between changes
