Engine stall
« on: July 30, 2011, 06:18:41 pm »
I put a new edelbrock 650 thunder avs on my truck along with aluminum intake. Stock 350. It runs pretty good, i set my idle at about 800 rpm when warm. When I put it into drive or reverse and stomp it quickly, the tires will spin for a second then the engine will stall. If you keep your foot down it will keep chewing though. It doesn't do it in neutral or park. I am new to carbs and still pretty dumbfounded. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Did you set the fuel mixture? Where is your timing set?

I'm guessing step-up springs. Have you done all the tuning steps they outline in the booklet that comes with it? If not, that's step one. I spent a couple months getting mine dialed in.

I'll say that I have been less than impressed with my Edelbrock. It never does seem to be right. It's a universal carb after all. It wasn't designed for my specific application like the OE QJet. That always shows itself in one way or another. Maybe I'm too picky though.

Let us know what you learn.
