Not sure about all ATF, but the old standby dexron etc. are derived from peanut oil.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

when i did mine lucky i was at dads, it was the rear seal leaking till i noticed fluid all under the motor. he then gave me a flaring tool i just looked at him with a confused look. so he told me to flare the ends so the line wont slip off cause the clamps aint enough

i dont believe that the ATF will "eat" the fuel line, but the plain jane fuel line has a lower pressure capacity than the trans cooler line. i try my best to use the correct trans cooler line or when possible i prefer power steering return line. its is the strongest. and i ALWAYS double clamp rubber lines...it scares me to be at the big end of the track at 113+ and having a fluid leak!!!

iirc it breaks down kinda like this...
fuel line is rated for 10 or so PSI
trans cooler is rated for 25 or so PSI
F.I. line is rated for 70 or so PSI

i did some research on it years ago when i was slinging parts for a living.
going by that i would say lower than 25

makes sense, they wouldnt make a hose right at the limit of the fluid its trying to hold
