does anyone have a rear view pic of your truck withno tail gate or bumber? im thinking of going this route.

     Is yours a 2wd, and without a tailgate or bumper your going to be able to see the frame works and rear crossmember of the truck, I don't think that would look appealing.

I run my truck without a tail gate, but its got a fabricated bumper!

Why not just take it off, and if you dont like it, put it back on? its not that hard.

     I think he wanted to see without the bumper, to see if it would look good or not.

The way I read that is he wanted to see without both, or either! If I ran a gate, and no bumper I still would have posted pics.

If I recall correctly, Ohio has a law that says a bumper can't be any higher than 6 inches above the height of the bumper when it was stock

i think in del the law says it cant be more than 6" from stock location. cause the lift laws are the bumpers have to be i think 30" from the ground so some would make drop brackets for their bumper and be able to lift the truck 8+ inches

Depends on what state you are from/in.  Many laws differ from state to state.

I'm retired LE from the state of CA and it IS NOT illegal to not have bumpers on your truck.  Only passenger cars are required to have bumpers.

Can't speak for other states.  Most states have their vehicle laws on-line.  Look up your state and read their bumper law.

No bumper is legal in N.H. Just have to have secure plate mount with a plate light. YELWSNO ran no rear bumper for a few years back when I first got it, before I swapped cabs, and rebuilt it.

Here you go! I ran mine like that for a couple years. Due to the body drop, the bumper needed altered brackets & the gate needed thinned so it would close. I propped the bumper up there one day to figure the brackets & it looked REAL dumb without the gate on (like it was falling off the truck) so I bailed on it for another year or so...always seemed to have other "more important" things to do.
I like it better with the gate & bumper, but without it did kinda fit the truck...A little raw & rough around the edges. Of course without the fuel cell, there wouldn't be near as much "stuff" hanging down there.
I agree with checking the state laws, however to my knowledge rear bumpers were an option on trucks through most of these years. In PA, you need a front bumper, but not a rear, but the frame must be less than 30"or 32" from the ground or something like that.
