nothing works with heat
« on: September 17, 2011, 08:45:48 pm »
ok guys i havent posted in a long time but i got a problem, i searched but everything didnt relate to my problem so i figured i would put it here. ok i bought a 84 swb k10 last year and never got around to figuring out why the heat wont work. now its coming up on fall and i need to figure it out as i froze my buttocks off last winter. anyways heres my problem. when i bought the truck the previous owner removed the a.c compressor and all the lines. he also removed the dash pad and some of the ducting. i turn the fan switch on i get nothing. on the heat/a.c controls i get nothing from the blower motor or anything like its not even hooked up. all the wires are hooked up under the hood to the blower motor and the blower motor resistor. my question is where do i start with this as i have never messed with the heating/a.c systems on these trucks. iv done everything but the heating/a.c system.

I know this sounds crazy, but do you have power to the blower motor?  I would check that first...

You could also run a wire from positive post on your battery to the single wire plug on the fan to test the fan. As with any electrical problem it is a process of elimination to narrow the problem.
