NAPA has the ball joint spanner wrench in two brands.  Here are part nos:

1.  BK7002467.  (Balkamp) Cost is ~ $21.50

2.  NCP 2782030.  (NAPA Chassis Parts) Cost is ~ $29

I doing mine too, the upper ball joint comes with the sleeve attached to it.

Q-  the "spanner socket " you mention, is this the socket that backs the adjusting sleeve out?
the sleeve on top has four notches (like the axle nut) but is way smaller. Does Oreilly have this
      socket ?

thanks..

The small, four notched sleeve you're talking about is what the spanner socket is for.
