Window guide rubber.

I put a new regulator in the passenger door of the '84 tonight. It works great but I have a grinding sound coming from the front window guide that is actually part of the vent window assembly. Most of the rubber is gone from the guide. I've checked around but have not found the rubber or the guide just the complete vent window assembly. Does the window channel seal go all the way down that guide or is it a separate piece?

There are several people on here that has taken those windows apart and replaced the rubber, unfortunately I have not done that to my rebuild yet, so I do not have a answer, I am sure someone will answer though.

On my '81 the front window seal is one piece. It is a big U shape from the bottom of the back guide, up over the top and down the vent guide. I can't remember if I had to remove the window to install it ... I think I did. Remove the entire vent window assbly and work the glass up. I did the inner/outer rubber scrappers on each window too. It wasn't cheap, but everything is so tight with no air leaks now, and it looks great.

Yes, it hard to tell from the pics of some catalog's pics and even some websites. That is why this site is so great, you get help and experience.

are you talking about the felt rubber that goes in the back of the vent window, that the big window slides up and down in? if so that piece it extremely common and simple to change. you'd have to buy a window channel kit, itll come with everything you need. if you do it right, you dont even have to take the window out of the channel to change it. i was able to rip out the old and slide the new felts past the glass to get it back in on my truck.
