floor rust

hey guy's
              my name is robert and i live in tx. i'm new to all this so any help would be greatly appreciated......i receny purchased a 1976 chevy stepside and when ripping out the carpet, noticed floor rust.what are my options?
it is the seam between the rocker panel and the where the floor pan meet.

I would investigate the back of the rocker and see how bad it is.

thanks for the info. can really use all the help i can get...do you have any suggestions on how to fix myself or is this something better off left for a body shop? any step by step on other similar situations ?

That looks a lot like mine did when I got it.  It is a big job to repair, but if you can cut and weld you can probably do it.  The 5 pc. repair kit on this site contains the parts that you probably need, and don't forget to look carefully at your footwell (kick panel) while you're at it.  I didn't think I needed all those parts when I started, but looks can be deceiving.  That 5 pc. repair link is priceless.

     As jaredts said, if you can cut and weld it can be done.  I like to tell people if you have not done it yet, find someone to work with that has done it so they can assist you and teach you, then you will have done it and can in the future do it yourself.
