Engine Build 355ci
« on: April 26, 2012, 10:40:28 am »
Alright my 350 that is in my 1977 chevy K10 is worn out,burns oil,oil turns black right-away when i dump new it,leaks,the rocker arms sit on the valves quirked and make a loud tick,so i bought a 350 out of a 95 K1500 (my bros he bought a new one from Jegs $1700).It was locked up so i tore it apart sent the block in to get bored .030 over cleaned cam bearing and plugs put in.The engine originally made 200hp 300ft torque,i found a set of Hypertectic pistions to bump my compreshion to 10.6:1 (stock Comp. is 9.0:1) also found a Cam kit (cam lifters timing set valves seats and retainers.comp cams extreme 4x4)and all the stuff i need to be replace. back to the heads I'm going to do a Minimum port job sense its my first time,I'm not gunna mess with the valve seat area(just clean it),So between high comp. pistons,bigger cam,min.port and polish,edelbrock EPS manifold,edelbrock carb 600cfm.All around $2300 for machine work and everything...what kinda power can i be looking at

More  :)

Not knowing everything, a mis-mosh of magazine parts could hurt you, not to mention that it's not that hard to take a smallblock capable of 400 hp and tune it to get 150 hp.

Well im doing a cheap build for my 4x4,Becouse i have about 450hp 355 for my 2wd, im just waiting for my water pump and fuel pump,i put that build on hold becouse i need a car to drive...and all i know about the heads make good torque the cam makes good low end mid range torque and the intake 9 ft tq+ over stock+my higher comp pistons...So i think it will good setup for going thru mud snow going to work and stuff like that

Can you give us anymore information? Are you running the stock vortec heads? What are the specs on the cam? Carb? Ignition system? Etc? Without knowing all the pieces to the puzzle, we're just throwing random numbers out there.

Same for the 2wd. I'm curious about it now too.

Engine was pulled out of a '95, so I doubt they are Vortec heads.  Might be, but i wouldn't count on it.
IMO, ask the builder.  He has all of the missing information, or at least more than us.

You got an intake for 9 ft lb on a daily driver?

I'm far from an engine expert so what do I know.

The engine is a 95 350 Its NOT the Vortech,just a 350 TBI,But I'm putting a carb intake on it (Edelbrock performer EPS)...Um engine specs Are:::stock crank,stock rods,Hypertectic dome pistons bored .030 over to 355(compreshon ratio 10.6:1)stock heads port and polished ,edelbrock intake,edelbrock  600 cfm 4brl carb,Electric fuel pump,Xtreme 4x4 X4262H Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft: .462''/.480''
