Aquapel
« on: May 22, 2012, 07:09:22 pm »
Anybody used this before?  I'm looking for a rain-x alternative, since rainx gets everywhere and fades my trim.

They say for $9  I get an applicator that will do a windshield or 2 side windows.  WAY expensive.  I'll have to my truck, a focus and an impala.  all windows.  that makes it danged expensive.

Is it worth it??  I'm doubting it for the price.  I got a big spray bottle of rainx that cost like $15 and will do hundreds of windows.  what do you guys think?  My paint is most important to me.  Trim secondary.

Never heard of it before, is it new ?  I also wonder if it will work as good as rain-x, I know rain-x works, I used it on my helmet face shield when I ride in the rain, keeps the water from pooling and me being able to see the road.

Don't spray the rain x on the windshield, instead spray it onto a microfiber cloth or rag and rub it on.  I've never used rain-x from a spray bottle and not had any complaints.

Guys here what I do and has worked since rainx came out with it. Use the orange rainx in the big jug. Wipe some of that on with a cloth or put it in the wiper bottle. Either way it works the same. :) good luck

Have you tried just using wax on the windsheild?

put it in the wiper bottle.

Seeing that we don't have a lot of use for wipers here this is exactly what I do

The original complaint was it getting all over and on the trim.  I don't think putting it in the washer bottle is ideal for this reason.

I've used Rain-X for a long time, but my buddy installs windshields and they carry Aquapel.  It comes in a little applicator with the solution in it.  You crack it similar to a glow stick.  I think Rain-X does a better job of flinging the rain off of the windshield, but Aquapel seems to last a lot longer.  For the price, I'll just apply Rain-X more regularly.

I just rain-X ed everything.  The aquapel is just to expensive relatively.    My dad made me feel kinda dumb and he was like, I can get a big ol spray bottle of rain-x that will do all 5 cars for years, or spend that same $10 on aquapel that will do one windshield or two side windows.   duh.

Aquapel may be good, but not for that price.   lol :o

The five cars I did today with the $10 rain-x bottle...  going by aquapels directions would have taken 10 or 12 of those self applicators at $10 each....  yeah. $120?  nah.  I can have the gasket on my windshield replaced for (without new glass) $56.92.  I'll just buy new rubber when it gets ugly...lol

I have done this with all of my vehiclles for years. I don't know if it as good as rain x(because I dont use it) but its a lot better than not doing anything.

I used to rely on the wax but it doesnt last very long at all with good wipers.

I rain-x-ed everything and will stick to that.  aquapel is too expensive.  I got 6 cars to do.  eh-eh.

I used to have to apply this when I worked as a detailer. Aquapel does work well, but I would have to agree with using rain-x more.
