picked up a matching boat!!
« on: August 07, 2012, 11:44:52 pm »
Haven't been around for a while guys, its been a busy summer!  and here's part of the cause!:  I don't know about you guys, but I've always LOVED seeing trucks with matching boats/ other trailers.
As the story goes, i sold my wakeboard boat at the end of last season, and it took only a month into this summer before i was on craigslist snooping around for something.  But i wanted to go a little different direction, everyone on the lake and their cousin has a ski/ wakeboard boat. i wanted something with a little character, a little "personality"..  basically something classic that would match the ole k30..  so i came across this beauty, a 21 foot open bow day cruiser,  '87 Caribbean by Hardin Marine. it had a new 454 installed last summer, runs great, and looks pretty good inside and out for 25 years old!!
what do you guys think?

Spent most of my life on the big lakes of Minnesota  ;D

Big waters mean big boats & the Trucks to haul them !

Most Excellent package indeed  ;)

Looks great.
Now you have to find some aluminum slotted rims for the trailer too.
Hopefully Sarge made it home and all is well.

its funny you say that!  The first couple of trips out i was Very impressed with the fuel economy. ..I mean VERY impressed-considering a big block,...  then slowly, as the excitement of just having the boat started to fade, i realized that my level shock of how good it was on gas was a direct correlation of the level of disappointment i had of the boats performance.  having never owned a boat like this, at first i was ready to accept that this was they way it performed all stock and that's that.    after a bit of inspection into the quadrajunk carb under the air cleaner, my dad and i found the secondaries to be not working.  ..like at all.
long story short one right size gasket and a linkage issue corrected later,  its a whole new boat!!   wow!  i used to top out at like 42 mph now it gets to 60mph, and gets there rather quickly!!   ;D ;D ;D

Very nice to match your truck.  I know how you feel about your fiance and the boat, when I married my wife 2 1/2 years ago I married her ski boat too.  She is an avid skier and can not do with out it.
