Gas gauge not working

Took the gas gauge out and there are 3 threaded prongs on the back. If I took a meter and tested the female plugs that those threaded prongs fit into, what voltages should I be seeing..? I have seen in other posts that this might be a grounding issue, so I figured I would test it right at the gauge to see if there is a ground there or not.

The copper foil on the back of the PC board commonly tarnishes and oxidation builds between the foil and the three silver clips that the gauge plugs into.  Be sure to check those connections - if you're careful, you can clean them with a pencil eraser or crocus cloth, but the foil peels from the board easily, so be gentle.

The three circuits to the gauge are: (1) 12 volts ignition, (2) ground, and (3) sender (measured to ground: 0 ohm, Empty to 93 ohms, Full).

bd, i did measure those contacts and did get 12 volts, I did a little futher investigating around the passenger side gas tank and found this connector. It was plugged in but I saw a wire that appeared broke, then I unplug it and saw another one also broke, there look like they were cut. Both wires seem like they were colored pink. Does this look like the plug that could be connected to the sender..?

That looks like the connector for a dual tank selector valve.  Only five of the six cavities carry wires & terminals.  Look in the Technical Pages for wiring details...

Thanks bd, I guess from what I can tell I need to reconnect those 2 wires, looks like thats why the gas gauge is not working.

What do you make of that, BD? Somebody's quick fix to a fuel gauge indication issue?

Looks like someones attempt at eliminating someone switching tanks.

Things get 'hacked' all the time by people who either don't know what they're doing, or don't have the resources to fix problems correctly.  Best approach is to hook e/g back up and diagnose it properly.

The wires that are severed 'connect' to the dash gauge and right tank fuel meter.

Got connected back up and things seem to be working. Funny thing is those wires looked like they were cut. When we bought the truck, we had an exhaust put on it by my sons friend.
He doesn't know the kid all that well, but he does work at a auto repair place and does stuff like this on the side, so I'm not accussing anyone of anything, but the wires that were cut,
the ends were still awful shiney.
