removing front springs without taking off spindles

i hear it's possible to get the front springs out without taking off the spindle. (not on our trucks just in general) i was wondering if anyone has had experience with this? using a compression clamp to clamp it down then pulling it straight out

but, just to let everyone know if they didn't already, it IS possible to remove the springs without dropping the LCA, pretty easy too.
