New guy here with 77 GMC Sierra "LRP"
« on: January 21, 2013, 08:04:18 pm »
Just thought I'd stop in and introduce myself and my new truck. Just bought her saturday, its a 77 GMC Sierra "LRP"....I had no clue what the LRP meant at first but after a little research I found that it stands for "Leisure & Recreational Prducts". These lrp guys worked with GM and created the "lrp package" which from what ive found consisted of a custom paint job, some were like a desert or canyon scene, and i guess they did alot of stuff with the conversion vans.. Anyway this truck I bought has been re-painted so I have no clue which custom paint job it came with. It does have dual tanks still which may have been part of that package......But anyway the truck is beautiful I could not pass it up. It had been sitting in a garage for the past 12 years after a frame off restoration. The guy I bought it from had copys of the title from the previous 2 owners and since 1999 it has only been driven 6,000 miles. It has the original 400, numbers match, 6'' lift with 35'' bfg's, cowl hood and more.... One thing I couldnt believe is that the dash is not cracked anywhere, I have never seen that before. The coolest thing about all of this is that the guy had a glove box full of stuff such as the owners manual still in mint shape, the original warranty brochure from 77, a brochure on the LRP package, and even a brochure from general tire for the oem tires it came with.... Unfortunely I had to give the guy the money and leave it at his house untill this friday when I can afford to get it on the road ( I have the title), so for me friday cant come soon enough I cant wait to drive it I will be taking my 2004 silverado off the road and putting this one on lol.....anyway here's some photos. I plan on taking the cap off most of the time, kinda makes it look like a grandpa truck with it on there....
