4x4 trans in 2 wheel drive truck?

Looking for an LS drivetrain for my project. Found a 1999 pickup with a 5.3 L engine, its a 4 wheel drive. Will the trans work for my 2 wheel project? Or do I need to find a trans out of teo wheel doner?

short answer is no. find a 2 wheel and go for it.
