i have a 89 c2500, 350 tbi, nv3500 manual, work truck. its the 6 lug 3/4 ton. the motor is about shot in it from the previous owners maintenance and i have been throwing around the idea of what i want to to for the engine rebuild. the compression on the drivers side is terrible compared to the passanger side and it burns quite a bit of oil but it starts and drives everyday. i use the truck as a work truck usually hauling wood or my car trailer or going to the job site. as soon as my 86 is done i plan on taking this truck out of service for a while to rebuild the motor and have the manual trans looked over. now my options as far as i know are..
1.keep tbi do mods as listed like on tbichips.com, PC friendly cam, heads, intake and on
2. make carburetor eliminating tbi, altering fuel pump etc etc.
budget i would suppose would be $2000 give or take $500. to be honest I'm happy with the power it has now other than when i tow. i would assume it has 3.73 gears. it has the high first gear and falls right on its face towing. but when im just out beating on it it will burn the tires off all day long. just looking for some info or suggestions seeing what other people have done with these tbi 350s. any info is appreciated thanks!
