Arizona emission?
« on: December 20, 2013, 01:01:41 pm »
Does every county test or is it just in the metropolitan areas?  I couldn't find info on-line that said for sure...

Found out smog tests are for residents or commuters to Phoneix/Tucson from what I've read.  I bid on a new job out there and need to understand the important stuff that pertains to my hobby...

From their website "The Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) applies to vehicles in the metro Phoenix and Tucson areas whose model year falls after 1967, mandating that the cars' emissions levels be inspected 90 days before their registration renewal date.

Your automobile will also need to be tested if you live outside the designated areas but commute into them for employment or schooling. You will be notified by postal mail if your car requires an emissions test."

Maricopa & Pima counties require emissions testing, I live in Maricopa and my 86 passes with no issues, it is totally stock and has all the factory emissions in place and hooked up. The expiration sticker on the plate is a different color based on the county your vehicle is registered in. However, I have never heard of anyone getting questioned when using their vehicle in a different county. I know several people that drive their vehicles in the Phoenix area everyday that are registered in another county and they've never been questioned on it.

So does this mean there might be a move in the future ?  Because as far as I know, if you are in a different state to work, even for extended amount of time, your vehicle still needs to be smoged and registered in your state of residency.

Yes a move if offered the job.  My company may have an internal candidate identified but they have to post all jobs which the hiring manager has to at least give a phone call.  I've been wanting to go to a warmer climate and can't think of a nicer place to go to set up for retirement down the road.

That's cool, I have a brother-in law who moved there this summer, my wife and I might be making a trip in the spring or fall ( summer is too hot for me to be on vacation, LOL ) so we can see their children.  Never know, I might have to drop by and say hi if you move.

The welcome mat, should I be so lucky, will always be out front...
