10 bolt rear to 12 bolt rear swap

I have a 1987 g20 chevy van with a 10 bolt open rear I want to swap
it for a 12 bolt rear with posi out of a 79 chevy van .....will this work
without spending alot of money to make it work

you shouldn't have any issues as you are using another van axle.  only thing I am unsure of would be the u-joint but one would think that they didn't change that.

     They are not the same, the 12 bolts u-joint is bigger.

What is the reason for the swap, if it is for strength it is a waste of time...
