Long Bed to Short Bed
« on: February 18, 2014, 06:01:08 pm »
Can this be done???  Heck yeah, saw a guy do it on a Hot Rod Show - but he had a '70-'72 Chevy.

Can it be done on a '73 ?  8)

anything is possible. are you talking about just the bed or a whole truck?

Just the bed  - yes but you would be better off to buy a short bed unless you just LOVE doing body work

LWB truck to SWB - yes, frame has to be cut, drive shaft shortened, brake lines redone etc

Typically it is 14" at the front and 6" at the rear.  On the first set of bed floor pics he has 14.5" though.

the other day i measured a 99 dodge lwb and a 01 dodge swb. its funny cause the difference was either 14 and 6 or 16 and 14 but it equaled 20" also
