My 1976 (1979 motor 454) chevy bogged down and died today. It would start back up then it would bog back down but now it just wont start. So i replaced the fuel filter thinking that was the problem. But nope, still wont fire. Im getting gas straight into the carb, even when I put some starting fluid down the barrels it wont fire, It will catch but wont start. So then I checked my spark and I am getting good spark. Then I checked my ingition system with multi meter. im getting good resistance between the TACH and BAT terminals and also good current to primary ignition moduel. So then I checked my timing and rotated the distributor slowley back and forth and still wouldnt catch. I did a compresion test few days ago and all cylenders were in the 130-150 range so we are good there. Everything to do with that distributor i replaced about a month ago so thats all new and also replaced the timing chain and gears back then too. Ive had it running since. Firing order is right and its not flooded so I am completley out of ideas on what else to check. Any help would be awesome! Ive been stumped for about a week now.
