Hey guys I'm building a 355 with vortec heads. The block is bored .30 over and I checked my ring gaps and the top two were .020 on. All cylinders. Is it ok the run the ring like that. I bought the rebuild kit from summit which included the rings. Also by the pistons that came with the kit being hypereutectic pistons which are aluminum I heard that they require a bigger gap. Please help. Motor is gonna be in 83 c10 with standard rear end and with 700 r4 tranny. Thanks in advance

Did you contact Summit to see what there tech dept. said, or a local engine building shop ? Sorry, I know that is not what you wanted to hear but I am no engine builder.

You would need to contact the piston manufacture to know for sure. Kieth Black hypereutectic pistons do require a larger ring gap due to the fact that the ring is closer to the top of the piston and gets hotter than a top ring on a stock piston. They have a formula based on your bore diameter. It can be found on there website.
