new heads/new rockers?
« on: January 07, 2005, 01:20:00 pm »
i've just been browsing through the edelbrock and comp websites, and i've noticed that the heads don't seem to include any rockers? is this true? if so, is it worth it to upgrade to roller rockers? they advertised 15-30hp over stock, and extra strength/less wear on valves/guides. sounds like a win win situation to me. i'm assuming its just a direct swap? website is www.powerandperformancene...ode=mgRCKR
thanks.
in my other posts i was looking at the comp cams 268H cam, but i just browsed a little further, and was wondering what the best choice would be out of the 268H,or the 275 dual energy? so far i've been leaning towards the 268 so i'm not sacrificing as much low end power. but any thoughts would be appreciated.www.powerandperformancene..._Code=CAMS

Short-

Roller rockers are sweet for sure, but the cost is kinda high. They do unleash horsepower compared to the standard rockers though.
As for your cam, match it to your engine specifics, stall speed, and expectations. Going too large in duration can cause a lot of money spent on the back end.

cool, if the price is within my spending limits new rockers is a must. might as well get the extra horses and have less wear and tear on the valve guides/valves. thanks for the help. and as far as i know, the cam 268H is not too big, so the rear end should be fine.

Good to see someone else using that cam. I start putting my 350 together tomorrow, and, as soon as I sell this tranny I have laying around, I'll buy my heads, intake, and carb.
