1979 C-10 Big Block Production Numbers
« on: September 09, 2014, 09:19:42 pm »
Hi, I am new to the forum. I just picked up a 1979 short bed Chevy C-10 Silverado with a factory 454 engine with 400 turbo trans. I have been trying to find the production numbers for 1979 but not having much luck. Any help would be much appreciated !  :)

First off welcome to the site.  You can start here at the GM Heritage website, which I linked you to the link that is found in our tech section.
Look through there, if not want you want, post back and tell us in more detail what numbers you are looking for exactly.

Thanks for the welcome and I do appreciate the link.  8)  What I am looking for is to see how many 1/2 ton pickups were made in 1979 with the 454 engine. The guy that I bought the truck from said, that he thought only 330 were made in 1979. I tried to find something to support that before I purchased the truck but, never could.

There has been other post on here several times asking the same question.
At the time of purchase they might have know that, but now there is no documentation we can find, unless of course someone worked at a dealership and happened to keep records.

He basically made that number up.  I think that year was probably the most of any year as it was the last year.
But GM did not keep records of any production numbers on these as far as drivetrain or trim level or options.  Several of us have asked over the past 25 years...
