Gm 14 ff rear end
« on: July 27, 2014, 01:40:25 PM »
Just recently got an 84 3/4 tone and previous owner had swapped in a gm 14 ff rear end it had a blown oil seal and no e brake set up. So of to the parts store i go get necessary parts and start fixing but the e brake set up has bolt in style cables and i need to convert them to clip style so that i can use the 84 style e brake from the cab to the frame . Does any one make a bolt on conversion?

First off welcome to the site.  Does the 14 bolt have disk or drum brakes ?

You said it is a 84 3/4 ton, it should have come with the 14 bolt already installed.  So I am assuming it is a newer version he swapped in, you could always look for 1 in like a junkyard and pull the parts off you need to swap the components for the e-brake if that is even possible.
I assume if you can buy them that it is possible, but I personally have never done that so I am guessing.

You might have a 70's FF, I think you may have to change the backing plate to got to the newer setup. The question is what year did they change from the bolt in style. If you can get the answer to that then your battle will be easier.
