Steering column locking device?
« on: October 14, 2014, 06:42:04 pm »
I know I could probably figure this out on my own but thought I would ask the question in case anyone has tried to do this.

Here goes.  Just like an automatic column shift has to be in park to turn the key to the lock position in order to remove the key, a 3 speed column shift has to be in reverse to do the same.  There is no detente so if it doesn't stay all the way up you have to hold it.   Is there any way to disable that function?

Why I'd like to do this is because of some slop in the shifter requires me to have the left hand hold a little pressure in reverse to turn the key back, also required to get it past lock in order to turn the tumbler to start the truck.  It would be easier to leave it in 1st if that function was disabled...

I have my broken one anyway that I need to harvest the tumbler out of for my other one.  I'll figure it out...
