20 amp gauges/idle fuse blowing
« on: October 20, 2016, 09:25:50 am »
Hi all! My daily driver is a 1984 3/4 ton 4x4 suburban. She is a beauty! On occasion I have had to replace the 20 amp Gauges/Idle fuse. Just the other day it stopped working. It will blow as soon as I turn the key on. I am pretty sure there is a short somewhere. All of the schematics that I have found do not show the exact fuse I am looking for. Just wondering if anyone knows or can figure out what exactly is on that fuse. She is stuck in a random parking lot not and any help would be appreciated!

Please include Year, Make, Model etc.. when posting

Scroll down through the list of 1973-87(91) GM Pickup Manuals and download the factory wiring manual that applies to your truck.  Assuming you are working on a 1984 Suburban, the GAUGES/IDLE fuse supplies power via circuit 39 (pink/black) to the seatbelt warning buzzer, instrument cluster, low coolant warning module & lamp, and the water in fuel lamp (diesel).

It's difficult to know just how much you don't know until you know it.
In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!
