I just picked up the blazer I always wanted. 1972 w/ D60 front 14bolt FF rear w/ 205 and soon to have 454 and thm400. Looking this thing over I can see that the springs are mismatched and pinion angle is way off etc etc. So I'm just gonna start from scratch with the suspension, and I've got 6 or so various GM trucks , etc to pick parts from and they all seem to have 56 inch springs, so it seems a given since this is for off road, that the longer the spring the better. I don't have any problem with fabricating the spring mounting locations or setting the alignment ( castor). I've got a shackle flip kit from ORD, a set of their FUSH front spring shackle mounts, shackles , crossover high steer etc. So the questions are: What am I forgetting? Has anyone done this? Thinking that moving the front axle forward an inch might be good (perhaps the rear axle back 1 inch ). Definitely will have matching spring arches front and rear, will get the pinion angle set where I want it. Ideally want 4 inches total spring lift from factory height, and clearanced fenders etc for 38's. And once I get paying for that, a doubler or perhaps the planetary set up from ORD. Your thoughts please?
