Anybody ever run metal cab floors?

I have an 82 c10, it has one of those rubber carpet things instead of  regular carpet. The problem is its all torn up and looks like crap. A new one costs more than I want to pay, so I was wondering if anybody has ever ripped everything out and just put some nice floor mats on the metal floor. If so how did it work?

I've had just metal floors for a few years now.  Its ok, but I would rather have something there.  The floor mats slide all over for one thing.

My carpet is pretty beat, I'm planning on ripping it out and trying to decide what to do. I'd like to lay down a bunch of dynamat or similar, and may then use bedliner or something rather than carpet. Dirty is ok, but damp carpet likes to mold which isn't ok. I'd prefer not making it even louder.

I thought about bedliner too but I heard its a pain to clean

I have a 73 Bronco and got rid of the carpet
It was always wet and muddy From trail riding    Hunting trips etc

The heat from the exhaust pipe actually burned the paint off the floor

I wound up using a do it yourself  Bedliner
Hurculiner

Then I went to a big rig junkyard and pulled the insulation from under the hood and cab of a couple trucks

Figured I t would be waterproof and flame resistant

I put that over the Hurculiner and then bought a new rubber floor cover

I ran metal cab floors for a little while - just until I could get my floor pan repaired and get new sound deadening mat, pad, and new carpet installed.  It was WAY too loud and hot for my taste.  The floor mats slid all over the place too, as someone else pointed out.

mines not a cucv but my 91 crew cab that the airforce had has a rubber mat on the floor about 1/8" think

I thought most of the U.S. Air Force trucks were basically like the civilian versions... If I remember correctly, the CUCV floors didn't have a removable rubber floor mat. Rather the bare floor had some sort of sprayed on material that had more grit to it than the bed liner stuff (plus the rifle holder in the cab corners along with several other Mil spec changes).  I have no idea exactly what GM used for the floors.

i know there was no crew cab cucv. and i know mine has nothing really military about it except some stickers and paint with no ac

The CUCV's came from GM with carc paint on the floor covered by the rubber floor mat with the insulation under it.
 
  Sometimes these mats are removed by the Military long before the trucks are released to the public. If I get a CUCV with the mat still in it I always rip the mat & insulation out.           

  Most of the time the mats have holes in them anyway around the gas/brake pedals.  The insulation will  hold any moisture that gets under the mat and cause rust issues.

  My truck is loud inside, but I don't find it annoying. That 6.2 is music to my ears.
