Broken coil spring
« on: February 02, 2015, 08:33:44 pm »
87 2wd 1/2 ton:

This truck has had a lean on the drivers side for some time, I thought it was my fat :( until I pulled the lower ball joint out and found that 1/2 of the coil at the lower control arm is broken

How do you break a coil spring?????

I have another set of springs that are 2 coils shorter that I used once trying to lower the truck, but it bottomed out on every bump. I still had stock shocks on though and they could have been bottoming out
Do they sell like 2" shorter shocks for lowered trucks?

I see broken coils all the time in the shop. Very common on 90/2000s GM front wheel drive cars.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
