73 silverado 3/4 ton, th350 shift lever wont allow me to go into L1. is that normal? or should i have to be moving? discovered this when adjusting my shift linkage. all will line up, just wont go into L1 when  i try to shift manually on the column.

It should be able to shift into Low 1st from a dead stop or while rolling at an idle. You can do it faster but it's not recommended. Parts usually break and things stop working very quickly when you shift into a gear much lower than the current speed.

Are you saying you cannot physically move the lever to the L1 position or that it won't drop down to that gear?  If the former check the linkage.

yep cant physically move it into L1. checked linkage, not sure. i could only adjust the linkage to match up with all of the other gears. can i add linkage? i dont use L1 anyway but would be nice to have the option

Check all the linkage, you should be able to drop a TH350 to L1 easily...
