I have a 1985 Chev C10 with a 350 4 barrel quadrajet.
I pulled the fuel filter out last night and brought it in to the auto parts store to get a replacement. The gave me a Duralast FF1104DL as a replacement, indicating they would have to special order the OEM replacement. I noticed right away that the one that I took out has a little black piece pushed into the open end that appears to be a spring loaded check valve. (don't have picture right now) Looking at the design, it looks like it would prevent gas from flowing back down to the pump. The new one did not have it, and it was just an open hole into the filter. I pulled the little check valve out and put it in the new one (just pushed in), but I'm wondering if that was the right decision. If its bad, its definitly going to impact the gas flow. I can't seem to find any information as to if this check valve is required or recomended. Anyone know.
