Hot air to electronic choke conversion on monojet?
« on: April 21, 2015, 04:17:10 pm »
Bought a NOS service carb for my 77 250ci inline 6 still sealed and shrunkwrapped off ebay. What showed up at the house is actually a 1976 carb with the hot air style choke rather than the electronic style I have. How hard would it be to convert this over using the parts off the existing carb, I'm not really wanting to take apart the one on the truck and having nothing to reference it to for reassembly.

Then again, I only paid $45 for the replacement carb so got a good enough deal I'm not looking to get a refund if I can adapt it easily enough at the same time.

If the choke mounting holes line up just swap the choke and linkage.  The internals on the monojets are similar but may not be directly swapped if the carb bodies are different.  Different castings mounted chokes, pulloffs and air bleeds in different places.  You may be able to swap the carb body as the monojets are not too complicated to reassemble.
