Wiper switch identification!?

I got a quick question. I can't identify the proper wiper switch, ordered 2 and they didnt fit. Vin code says it's a 79 but.. They didnt fit! Helppp please! Truck has a female four prong connection.

That looks circa 1975-1977 and is probably obsolete.  You might be able to adapt a 1973-1974 wiper switch, which should still be available.  The wiper switches for newer model trucks (78 & later) used different style connectors and terminals.

It's difficult to know just how much you don't know until you know it.
In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!

As an option if you cannot find a replacement switch consider finding a 84 on up column with the wiper switch.  A tilt wheel column can be found fairly easy taken out of a Suburban up to 1991.  Get the module for intermittent wipers and you will have a nice upgrade.  I did that to a 1982 when my switch went out.  In my case I already had the column.  Just a thought...

I'm going to take a guess and suggest that what you have is an intermittent wiper system that is missing the intervalometer unit which plugs directly into the back of the switch AND THEN plugs into the cable shown in your photo.
