Fuel gauge not working

I know this pops up all the time but after replacing the gas tank my fuel gauge is stuck at empty, i messed with the gtound a little but only had like 5 minutes so it may still not be good, any other possibilities

Assuming the fuel tank isn't empty and you don't have a blown fuse, the signal lead is grounded (possibly pinched during installation) or the float is snagged inside the tank and being held down.

~10 gallons and fuses are fine but the ground is smashed bad, does that really cause a problem though

If the issue was with the smashed ground wire being severed the fuel gauge would indicate way past full at three o'clock. Understand that you need to repair the smashed ground wire to prevent future corrosion, but look for a grounded signal wire to correct the "Empty" gauge reading.
Does the gauge indicate way past "Full" when you unplug the signal wire from the sender?
