Fuel line Relocations
« on: April 15, 2015, 02:06:41 pm »
Hey all, there is a few things I would like to do to my fuel lines while the engine is out of my truck.

Its a C20 with dual fuel tanks and a TBI 350.

1- One day I would like to replace the external fuel pump with 2 in - tank factory units and get the TBI switching valve, so that in the future I can have to working fuel tanks for a TBI again. Until then it's just running on 1 tank and an external pump. So the question is, do I need to keep the steel vent line that runs with the supply and return lines? I'm guessing that the TBI pumps do require this vent line correct, so I should leave it? If not I would like to remove it.

2- The engine is TBI, but obviously was carb'd originally. The supply and return lines are in there factory positions, but when the engine is in, there are 2 rubber lines that run up the front of the engine, then turn and go towards the distributor and then turn left and go into the back of the TBI. I would like to rework the lines so that they come up between the firewall and transmission from the back, that way I only have to short flexible lines going to the back of the intake and not a combined 8 feet of rubber fuel hoses running directly over the top of a hot engine. What is needed to make this happen (i.e. hoses, fittings and such)?? I'm good with braided stainless lines or rubber, doesn't matter, as long as it doesn't leak and the supply line has a fuel pressure test port.

Ideas and prior experience or similar setups welcome. Thanks guys!

Little late on this but
1) keep it.
2) You probably would have to splice the hard line but the factory TBI trucks have a braided line with Metric connectors to mate with the Throttle body and the hardline.  I usually get the lines from Inlinetube.com or classictube.com
