Seat Removal

If this question has already been asked, I apologize in advance for asking again, I could not find a previous topic using the sites search tool.

I'm redoing the interior of my Suburban, I recently removed the trim and noticed some light rusting around the carpet and really would like to remove my seats, pull the carpet out, seal up the floor then put it all back.

Any one remove their seats before? Can you describe the process, I'd like todo this this upcoming weekend but am not sure how, I've never done this before.

Found it on another posting. I believe there is four bolts holding it to the floor if it's a bench seat. Just remove the bolts and pull seatbelts out thru the bottom. And seat should come out passenger side door.

Sweet! It's a 76. I'm extremely new at the whole disassembly/assembly & repair of old vehicles so this is me basically teaching myself. Thanks a ton for the info, I'm not entirely sure what I'm going todo with the seats once they are out (need recovered) but at least I'll be able to get at the carpet and floor trim.

I'm assuming that carpet is glued in isn't it?

Factory carpet is not glued in. Just remove seats, seat belts, sill plates and floor shift boots if any.

Thanks JetMech, that's what I was thinking. I know it hasn't been taken out (other to when replacing the rocker panels), I'm changing up the color scheme from the tan/brown color to charcoal/dark charcoal/black (with existing black carpet) and wanted to fix various screw holes holes in the dash and repaint some things...

Basically remove the entire interior, do some touch up work, clean the heck outta the old carpet, throw some seat covers on the seats, then put it all back together.

Wouldn't mind finding a nice set of seat covers (gray/dark gray preferably). Taking a stab at removing those seats this Friday, we'll see how it goes.
