I do have a garage, the truck don't fit in it tho. I have a locked yard, does that count? Lol probably not.
Hagerty is great, if you meet all the requirements, if not or have other circumstances, like teen driver, 4wd vehicle, vehicle is a DD. It's probably much easier to just get full coverage.
As for me, I'll stick with my liability with USAA, hopefully one day I will be able to go up to full coverage. For now, alertness, attention to surroundings and quick reflexes are about the best insurance policy I have.
I hope he's happy with his choice to use Hagerty.

We switched from State Farm to Hagerty several years ago for our C10. SF was more expensive for liability than what I got for agreed value (10k) from Hagerty. SF is currently trying to reduce their market share in TX (so I am told) and their coverage is expensive here. I looked at several collector insurance companies, Grundy, Heacock, Leland West, JC Taylor but issue was that they were more oriented to "show" vehicles that are not driven regularly. Our truck is not a DD but we do drive it regularly (2-3K miles a year) so that would not work for me. I have not had a claim with Hagerty but I am pleased with price and service so far.

Question: does Hagerty provide liability coverage sufficient to satisfy California's liability insurance requirements? In other words, do they cover other drivers you might hit and injure or just the value of your car?

Make sure , sure, that you get a high limit for uninsured /underinsured motorist .
Some states and I think Cali is one , the state minimum property damage is $5K
So even if the idiot that hits you actually has ins . If it's just the state minimum it might as well be nothing

I have NationWide on all my cars , $120/month (not to bad for 3 cars )(only thief and fire on the C25) had them since I was 18 and never had a problem. I have a declared value of $5,000 on my truck. Classic plate. no mileage restrictions. When I finish restoring her they will cover the value "if" I get it done a a shop Or 80% of Receipt if I do the restore myself.
