The 8.1L in Avalanches, Suburbans and Yukon XL used a 4L85E, all other trucks used an Allison Trans.
If you want it to fit without cutting the floor the 4L85E will work.  Is that what you are asking?

Chris it is. Thank you. Do you know if anyone has done this conversion? Im not to concerned about the ECM and wiring. A good friend of mine will take care of that. He just did and LS1 swap in his 03 AWD Safari van and it looks factory.

DANG!!! Add an eBay turbo setup and that thing would be the ultimate sleeper. Stoplight to stoplight, can you imagine how bad it would make the mustang and ricer boys cry hahaha!!!

Im thinking about doing AFR heads, cam, intake and carb on the current 454, then eventually stroking it to a 496. The idea of a 1 ton truck spanking corvettes is kind of appealing.

Buddy of mine in high school, his dad had a 79 1ton, crew cab dually, lowered with a camper shell and a heavily built 454. They would load up the truck, hook up a trailer and load the trailer with quads and go on camping trips, passing people in the left lane doin 65mph.......UPhill. Wish I could have seen that.
