Another domelight questions
« on: October 13, 2015, 01:04:25 pm »
I'm trying to set up the interior of my cab very simple and minimal, my truck came stock with the factory dome and cargo lamp however they had been ripped out by the PO before I got the truck. I'm currently in the midst of trying to reassemble the domelight inside as well as the cargo lamp on the rear of the cab, I have both the dome light and cargo light housings and a factory cargo light switch, however none of the wiring exists. The PO hacked everything up. The door jamb switches for the domelight are shot and again the PO ripped out the wires to the switches anyways . However when the headlight switch is turned all the way right or left the interior courtesy light illuminates so I know that curcuit is still good. So basically my questions is, is there any way I could do away with the door switches and just operate the ctsy lamp and dome lamp off the headlight switch after I install it? If so where would I run the wiring for the dome lamp to tie into that curcuit? Also where would I get power for the cargo lamp? I'm not to familiar with that curcuit. Any help or suggestions is always appreciated thanks fellas!

The inside and outside light are fed by a wire from the fuse box and are hot all the time
The door switches and head light switch ground it and complete the circuit

Cargo light had a switch behind the drivers head

Okay so the dome light and cargo light get constant power from the same wire? And yes I have the factory switch for the cargo lamp, im just not familiar witth how the lamp was hooked up from the factory or where the wires were ran, I have wires ran from the fuse box along the sill and up the b pillar to the lamp locations, I just don't know where to get power or where to hook ground for either lamp, this is my first square body and im not to great with schematics im still learning lol. And for the dome light how would I hook that up to the factory headlight switch?

There should be a connection on the headlight switch that grounds the dome light and turns it on
