Mirror Upgrade
« on: January 09, 2006, 05:34:00 pm »
I have a 74 C10. One thing that has always been annoying is the really small mirrors, especially when trailering a boat.   sells a repro 77-87 style larger mirror (P81 of their new catalog). Would those fit the door shape on my 74, and might the base cover the old, small mirror mounting holes?

Thanks

The ones   sold, at one time, didn't have the curved shape on the passenger side, it is just a mirror like the drivers.  The mounting point will cover the mounting holes if they mount the same as the originals.  How is the finish on your '74 mirrors?

The finish is quite good on both my stock, small mirrors, and both are date coded. I notice that in their most-recent catalog,   now sells a convex right side large 77-77 replacement mirror.

Do the mounts on these 77-87 larger mirrors match the curve on the upper part of a a 74 door? LMS lists them to fit 77-87, and their 77-87 doors are a different part number than their pre-77 doors. Thanks.

Yes, they will fit the 73-76 doors.  The only difference on doors is the inner panel.  The outer is the same from 73-91.

I bought a RH convex mirror from   for my 87 a couple of years ago and the piece of sheetmetal that covers the mounting bolts was not of the same contour of the door. I wound up swapping out the bases with my busted mirror. See if you can find a pair in a junkyard somewhere first.
