My Fresh Find: 1986 C10
« on: June 15, 2016, 11:15:34 pm »
Here is the new project, First thing to do is get that load of rubbish gone lol.

It’s a tame 305 under the hood, Fired right up, though it does need a new Head gasket set.(Thank you Rockauto.com) That'll be the first order of business after the truck is home on Tuesday. The transmission was also shot but luckily I had a 700R4 already and the Gentleman I bought the truck from offered to install it. Win Win  ;D

I`ve got the Dual exhaust and Headers from my last truck so that will be the first upgrade and then Suspension following that.

I`ll post more pictures after Tuesday.

Got the Truck home and the old one loaded up for the Scrap yard in the morning. Will try to load some pictures but I am having errors though I have already resized.

Ok so that Worked. I`ll post the pictures to that host site for now until I can get posting to the forum figured.

So since getting the new truck home I`ve swapped out the grille from my old truck and the Sylvania Performance Headlights.

I`ve got to replace the Head Gaskets next. So I will be starting that shortly. Original exhaust will not be going back on either.

Lucky I`ve got goodies from the last truck that I`m swapping in. I`ll keep it updated.

Cheers

The Head bolts and New cut off blades for the rip saw came in from Amazon today :) Finally finish getting rid of this old restrictive exhaust and get those Long tubes and 3" Pipes on.

Tried to resize pictures even smaller but still getting an error message when I submit. So will continue to post to this link

All right so here are some pictures. I've got the engine mostly back together. Waiting on the new timing chain, thermostat housing and couple of sensors. As well working on figuring out the Vacuum lines but that's in Engine/Drivetrain if you want to check it out.

Okay, So now I`ve got the engine running and it sounds good. I swapped out the Chevy grille for my old GMC one, Switched the Horn cover and the Tailgate was replaced once upon a time with a GMC one.

Here are a couple pictures with the changes, Oh and put on the front wheels and tires, Started to install the exhaust, Needed to trim a little of the cross-member to run the exhaust on the left side. Will be getting one of those cross-member's from the store eventually.

Will keep updated with the progress and pictures. Will be some major changes over the winter

Hooked up the Head Unit today.

I had an old Cluster Face since I don't want to hack up the original and a Pioneer AVH3300BT laying around. I thought why not see if I can mount it In Dash. I do plan on doing a custom center console this winter but for now this beats the tape deck.

Here's how it turned out.
