which way would be easier

I have an '84 Chevrolet K10. This is a good truck and I have installed a 350 crate motor. I recently purchased an '87 GMC Sierra Classic. This truck is a 2wd and in great shape both body wise and running wise. I orginally convienced my wife to let me buy the GMC by telling her that I would swap out the body from the GMC to the Chevrolet. Now the question. Since the Chevrolet is a non a/c truck and also a 4 speed and the GMC is an automatic with a/c how hard would it be to put the a/c cab on the 4x4 frame? I know that the "hump" in the floorboard is different, but that is the only thing that I have really noticed. I would like to keep the VIN off the Chevrolet simply because it is closer to being 25 years old and at 25 years I can exempt it from any emissions testing. Can the a/c components be taken out of one cab and be placed in the other? All help is appreciated.

Either way is going to be a HUGE amount of work.  First I would check with the DMV, especially if you plan on using the VIN from one cab to put on another cab.  Typically this is illegal.

To put the 4x2 cab on the 4x4 frame it just bolts on.  To clear the trans tunnel you MUST get the whole trans hump out and weld it into the 4x2 cab.

If you want to swap A/C you must fill the holes from the heater setup and then make a template and cut the new holes in the non-A/C cab to mount everything...

If the Chevy Cab is in good shape, I wouldn't switch them and it wouldn't be worth the trouble if all you are after is A/C.  Vintage Air make a swap kit that fits in the existing hole where the heater went...

The after market air would be allot less work. As far as the ceter mount goes I cut out the 4x4 hump  over size and use large self tappers with washers that have gaskets. Like the onse used to install metal siding on buildings. Also some sort of self stick gasket under it.
Oh yeah and its only illegal if they catch you!
