Tailgate Hinge MOD

74 C10 LWB. Doing some moving yesterday, tailgate was opened and closed many times. During this, was wondering if there was ever some sort of MOD for hing so that gate did not just free fall when opened? Maybe so it would go down easier/slower than original.

This was a thought I had.

There is something like that on the market----which supposedly saves fuel as well;  It can hold the tailgate partially open.
