84 t56 swap

My truck is an 84 Chevy c10 swb with a 454. I want to swap the 700r4 to a manual. Switching auto to manual isn't a big deal but has anyone swapped in a lt1 t56? If you did how did it fit and how was the work getting it in? Since the lt years of the t56 will work with engines before the ls I want to put one in the truck. It should work I'm just wondering if anyone has done it before and if there are any tips to getting it done. Since we broke the 700r4 we have to do something about it, so six speed.
